Optimism about Romero beatification

The buzz from the Vatican. Catholic News reports that the there soon may be "good news" about progress towards the Catholic church declaring martyred archbishop Oscar Romero a saint. Pope Benedict is reported to view the matter "very favorably."

I thought the former Joseph Ratzinger never looked too favorably on those pesky Latin American liberation theologians.

I am aware that Romero is not considered to be a liberation theologian, but his actions at the end of his life paralleled the basic teaching of that movement.
