Salvadorans in the USA

La Prensa Grafica recently shared some charts showing where Salvadorans live outside of the El Salvador.   88% of the 2.9 million Salvadorans living outside of the country live in the US.   The chart below shows their population centers in the US.   The largest number of Salvadorans live in California with one million Salvadorans in just the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco.    60% or 1.25 million of the Salvadorans living in the US are US citizens.

Here's a chart showing the other countries where Salvadorans live

Elizabeth but not Union City? Sure, Elizabeth has the ICE facility, but I would think UC has more Guanacos.

There is a problem with the graphic showing where Salvadorans live in the U.S. It says they're 35,000 in Hartford and I assume they mean that city in Connecticut. That has to be inaccurate. The overall population of Hartford is 124,000. I have worked as a community and union organizer in and around Hartford since 2006. There is no way 28% of the city's population is Salvadoran. 43% of the population is Latino, but much more Puerto Rican and then Peruvian, Mexican, and other Latinos. There are about 3.5 million people living in Connecticut and 14.2% are Latino, but I don't even think there are 35,000 Salvadorans in the state overall. Something does not add up in LPG's graphic

I think the cities might represent the locations of Salvadoran consulates.

There's no Salvadoran consulate in Hartford, CT. The only one in the six New England states is in East Boston.

OK, maybe it's just only roughly accurate. Perhaps it is correct plus or minus 500 miles.
